Lexington, SC 11/08/2026 - The Lexington High School Chess Club is celebrating an impressive accomplishment after taking home second place at the Palmetto Scholastic Tournament held Saturday.

The Wildcats competed against a strong field of talented student chess players, demonstrating their strategic thinking, concentration and determination throughout the competition.

Their second-place finish is a reflection of the hard work, dedication and countless hours the students have invested in developing their chess skills.

Chess requires patience, critical thinking and the ability to plan several moves ahead. The Lexington High School students put those abilities on display as they represented their school and competed against some of the area's talented young players.

The achievement is another reason for the Lexington One community to celebrate its students and the many opportunities they have to develop skills beyond the traditional classroom.

School officials and supporters congratulated the chess club members on their outstanding performance and expressed pride in the way they represented Lexington High School.

Congratulations to the Lexington High School Chess Club on bringing home second place! Way to go, Wildcats!
