West Columbia, SC 08/11/2025 - The Lexington Medical Center health care network will now be known as Lexington Health — a transition that reflects the growth and advancement of the hospital that has been part of the Midlands since 1971.

This name evolution reflects the comprehensive medical network that the hospital has become while remaining the only locally owned, independent health care system in the Midlands.

“Our commitment to our communities remains the same,” said Tod Augsburger, CEO. “Lexington Health will continue to offer the most advanced medicine and highest quality care to our friends, families and neighbors now and in the future.”

When the hospital opened its doors in 1971 as Lexington County Hospital, there were just 125 beds and 250 employees. In the 1980s, the name changed to Lexington Medical Center to reflect its expansion across the Midlands and its increased number of locations, services, programs and providers.

Today, Lexington Health is a comprehensive network of care that includes a 607-bed teaching hospital, six community medical and urgent care centers, nearly 80 physician practices and more than 9,000 health care professionals. The network also includes an occupational health center and the largest skilled nursing facility in the Carolinas.

While the entire health system becomes Lexington Health, the hospital facility will remain Lexington Medical Center. Other entities within the health system will adopt Lexington Health and update their names accordingly. The names of its six community medical centers will transition to Lexington Health as well.

Community members can expect to see the name changes on signage across the network over the next two years as well as on print and digital materials, including patient bills and MyChart.

This September we will introduce a new and improved website —LexHealth.com. Visitors to LexMed.com will automatically be redirected to the new URL.

I find it really positive that Lexington Medical Center is embracing a more unified identity as Lexington Health. When large health care networks streamline their name, it usually reflects a stronger focus on community and continuity of care, which matters a lot to families like mine. It makes me think about how important consistency and trust are when choosing senior living or assisted living options. That’s one of the reasons I often look for resources like click me on sites such as seniorcarehomes, because having clear guidance makes it easier to compare communities and ensure loved ones receive the support they need in a stable, well-connected health care environment.

This is a meaningful step for your community Lexington Health really reflects the depth and breadth of your care network. When people think about clarity and rebranding like this, they might also consider clarity in their career materials. For job seekers in the Gulf region, finding the right Gulf CV maker can bring similar focus to their CV, helping connect their story to opportunities that truly match
