Lexington One celebrates 20 years of Dual Language Immersion program

Lexington, SC 98/07/2025 - Lexington County School District One is proud to announce the 20th anniversary celebration of its Dual Language Immersion program, a milestone event recognizing two decades of commitment to bilingual education, cultural understanding, and global citizenship.

Since the program’s creation in 2006, Lexington One’s Dual Language Immersion has equipped thousands of students with the skills to communicate effectively in two languages while fostering literacy and cultural understanding. This commemorative event will bring together current and former students, families, educators and community members who have contributed to the program’s lasting success, as well as celebrate the program’s significant impact on students across 16 schools in the district.

Date: Thursday, October 23, 2025

Time: 5:30–7:30 p.m.

— 5:30 p.m. – Meet and Greet (Food trucks available)

— 6:15 p.m. – Program

Location: Icehouse Amphitheater (107 West Main Street, Lexington, SC 29072)

“For 20 years, our Dual Language Immersion program has been preparing students to thrive in a multilingual, multicultural world,” said Sarah Bley, world languages and dual language immersion coordinator in Lexington One. “We are honored to celebrate the dedication of our educators, the engagement of our families, and the achievements of our students.”

Former immersion students are encouraged to share their experiences in the Lexington One Dual Immersion Program by completing the alumni information form. Sharing stories and experiences will be an integral part of the celebration as the district honors the impact of this innovative program over the past two decades.
