Lexington One names Trotter assistant principal at Deerfield Elementary School

Lexington, SC (0517/2021) - During the Tuesday, May 4, 2021, meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees, the board approved the promotion of Samantha B. Trotter to assistant principal at Deerfield Elementary School. Trotter currently serves as a literacy coach at Meadow Glen Elementary School.


Trotter began her career in 2006 as a teacher at Batesburg–Leesville Elementary School in Lexington County School District 3. During eight years spent at BLES, she taught fourth and fifth grades and served on school- and district-level leadership teams that created and implemented school improvement and Title I plans. In 2014, she became a literacy coach at BLES. In that role, she led professional development in reading and writing, served as a test administrator, and managed the Response to Intervention processes.

Trotter joined Lexington District One as a literacy coach at MGMS in 2018. She currently collaborates with interventionists to monitor students’ progress, leads professional development and student-centered coaching, and works closely with school administrators to support instruction. She possesses certification in elementary education, early childhood education, literacy teaching and coaching, and administration. She also earned gifted and talented endorsement, as well as Read to Succeed credentials.


Trotter holds a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education, with a minor in Spanish, from Clemson University, a Master of Education in language and literacy from the University of South Carolina, and a Master of Education in educational administration from Grand Canyon University. She also completed the Lexington District One Aspiring Assistant Principal’s Program.
