Lexington, SC 07/09/2021 - Dr. Gloria Talley, formerly of Lexington County School District One, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.
Talley, who recently retired from Lexington District One after serving 11 years as the district’s chief academic officer, has 46 years of public education experience. She joined the district in 2010, after serving as deputy superintendent for teaching and learning for DeKalb County School District in Decatur, Georgia. Her illustrious career includes serving public education on a school, district and regional level, from working as an English teacher to serving as director of the Leading Educational Achievement in Districts program for the Southern Regional Education Board.
Each year, up to three administrators receive the prestigious SCASA award, which recognizes the lifetime achievement of veteran administrators. Award recipients must show evidence of outstanding leadership as an educational administrator; a record of service and leadership as a member of SCASA and its affiliates; community service not directly related to the education profession; and service to the profession above and beyond normal job responsibilities.
