Lexington One shifts to e-learning day Thursday due to expected inclimate weather

Lexington, SC 03/17/2021 - On Thursday, March 18, in anticipation of severe weather and the threat of tornados, Lexington County School District One will shift to a weather-related e-learning day for all students and staff in all attendance areas. As always, our concern for the safety of our students and staff drives this decision.

During Thursday’s e-learning day, all staff and students will remain at home. Principals will reach out to the parents/guardians of their students with specific instructions/reminders about the learning platforms used in their students’ schools.

The district is also canceling all child care programs, meetings, and events scheduled to take place at any Lexington District One school, performing arts center, field, or other facility, as well as any other district programs, athletic practices or events, adult education classes, school or district-related meetings, events, or extra-curricular activities scheduled for day or evening.

Lexington District One plans to have a regular school day on Friday, March 19, for students and staff. For elementary students, that is a face-to-face day. For middle and high school students, Friday is still an e-learning day.

However, should the potential impact of the anticipated severe weather change our plans for Friday, the district will send out any additional information to staff and students through SchoolMessenger Communicate.

Parents should take a moment now to make sure their information is up to date in SchoolMessenger. You can find out more about how to do that by visiting this page on our website and clicking on SchoolMessenger. https://www.lexdistrict1.com/i-am/a-parent-guardian/overview

Parents can also get information about school openings and closings in Lexington District One by following the district on Facebook or Twitter, checking the district’s website at www.lexington1.net, or checking local media websites.
