Lexington PD arrest driver of truck loaded with stolen construction material over the weekend

Lexington, SC 06/06/2022 (Paul Kirby) – Lexington police officers patrolling overnight Friday and into Saturday morning were able to recover stolen material and arrest one person after receiving a tip from the public. Apparently, the caller advised the police that they had seen a U-Haul truck with long pieces of lumber hanging out the rear cargo door near a construction site in a neighborhood under construction.

Lexington officers located the very conspicuous vehicle on North Lake Drive and after further investigation, recovered stolen lumber and arrested the driver for possession of methamphetamine and providing false information. That person was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center.

According to a spokesman for the police, this situation highlights the importance of their "See Something, Say Something" campaign. They ask that if anyone sees something that doesn’t look right, they should pass that along to the police. They really don’t mind a bit and would rather check it out than let a crime occur.
