Lexington, SC – 04/14/2021 (Paul Kirby) – Thursday morning, Major Matt Davis of the Lexington Police Department presented Corporal Mike Lawler with the "Chief's Letter of Commendation". This was done after Corporal Lawler saved a person’s life earlier in the year.
According to the department, on January 27, 2021, Corporal Lawler responded to a call where a man was unresponsive and had stopped breathing. When Corporal Lawler arrived, he began to manage the scene, got CPR started, and use an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) to provide a measured electrical shock which caused the man to regain a pulse. He was then transported to the hospital for further treatment.
The man survived his medical episode and is alive today thanks to the cool head and quick response of Corporal Lawler.
