Lexington, SC 09/28/2021 (Paul Kirby) Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green is turning to the public in hopes that someone will come forward with information that could help investigators solve a homicide that happened about a year ago. Chief Green said Tuesday that it is his hope that someone will come forward and assist detectives in bringing this ongoing investigation to a close.
On Saturday, September 19, 2020, at approximately 1:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Hickory Hill mobile home park off Industrial Blvd. in Lexington. There, a woman had been found dead inside of her home. The woman was identified as Janet Buril, 75. After their preliminary work at the scene, Buril’s death was ruled a homicide. Chief Greene said that the specific cause and manner of Buril’s death, along with other information regarding this homicide, have not been released due to this being an ongoing investigation.

Since that day, detectives have continuously worked on this case. They believe there is still someone out there who has information that has not been given to law enforcement about the circumstances that lead to Buril’s murder.
“I can’t imagine the agony and sense of loss that the family of Janet Buril have felt over the last year since her death”, Chief Terrence Green said. “I appreciate their patience as our investigators are using every possible method in their evidence gathering for this case. Though we are confident that charges will be made, if someone has information that has not been shared yet, now is the time to call. Help us bring closure to this family with the arrest of who is responsible for Janet Buril’s murder.”
