Lexington police asking the community for help to identify suspect in property crime

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) - The Town of Lexington Police Department is turning to the community for help to identify a suspect involved in a property crime. The suspect and his vehicle were caught on surveillance video during the burglary that took place in broad daylight in a heavily populated subdivision.

According to police, the suspect stole multiple items from a home on Bell Haven Lane in the Martin’s Grove neighborhood. This crime occurred on September 16th, 2020.

In the clear surveillance video, you can see a man who appears to be Caucasian and in his 20s or 30s. Don’t exclude anyone you are suspicious of just because of age as the camera view isn’t close and he could be younger or older. He is wearing shorts and a T-shirt much like anyone else would do when it was still warm in mid-September. Look closely at his feet. Are those open toed Nike flip flops he's wearing? He also has a ballcap that he is wearing backwards. That's normally a habit that some people get into that doesn’t often change.

The suspected thief is driving a black Dodge SUV. It appears to have factory rims and there looks to be a light-colored sticker or decal in the upper left (driver’s side) corner of the rear window.

Officers asked that if you have any information about this case you please contact detective Peyton at (803) 358- 7271. You can also make tips through Crime Stoppers at 1-888 CRIME SC. They also have a website you can find on the internet at www.midlandscrimestoppers.com. You can make tips there by navigating to the submit a tip tab. You can also download Crime Stoppers P-3 app in either app stores and make tips through that.
