Lexington Police Department to offer free STOP THE BLEED and C.R.A.S.E. (active shooter) courses

Lexington, SC 06/20/2022 – Chief Terrence Green of the Town of Lexington Police Department recently announced that their officers will begin offering monthly STOP THE BLEED and C.R.A.S.E. (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) training with dates planned for each class once a month for the remainder of the year.

Green said in his announcement that the department is frequently asked by schools, churches, businesses, and community groups for instruction on what to do if they encounter someone who is bleeding from an injury and how they should react if they are in an active shooter event.

STOP THE BLEED is a two-hour course that teaches participants three quick actions which can be used to save a life with guidance on the use of tourniquets and wound packing.

C.R.A.S.E. is a two-hour course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend strategy developed by ALERRT, which provides strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event.
