Lexington, SC 10/22/2021– The Lexington Police Department, along with the Lexington/Richland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council (LRADAC) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), will be working together on Saturday, October 23, 2021, for Drug Enforcement Administration at the CVS Pharmacy in the Town of Lexington.
This take back event will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 2:00 p.m. at the CVS Pharmacy located at 5608 Sunset Boulevard in Lexington.
For those stopping by, look for the Lexington Police Department tent in the parking lot and hand your discarded prescription drugs to officers.
“Addiction to prescription medications continues to be on a dangerous rise and our officers are investigating overdose incidents at alarming numbers”, Chief Terrence Green said. “National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is the perfect opportunity to take a few minutes to clean your medicine cabinet to ensure that these dangerous drugs are disposed of safely and are kept out of the hands of those who would abuse them.”
All discarded prescription drugs collected will be turned over to the DEA for proper disposal.
As a reminder, the Lexington Police Department, which is located at 111 Maiden Lane, has a permanent CVS Drug Collection Unit in the lobby and prescription medications can be disposed of there during business hours.
