Lexington police located some of stolen flags with a citizen’s help

Lexington, SC 07/14/2021 (Paul Kirby) – Lexington police officer have recovered some of the American flags that were recently stolen from homes in the Wellesley neighborhood off Ginny Lan recently. According to the police, in total eight American flags and one decorative yard flag were stolen late into the night of July 11 or in the early morning hours of July 12, 2021. Prior to that, one flag had been stolen on June 25, 2021.


Police say that most of the flags were recovered from the Ashford Way area of the town where someone had laid them on the ground in a wooded area. A citizen located the flags, picked them up and hung them in trees to get them off the ground, and then notified police.

Earlier in the week police say the subject they believed was involved in these incidents is a male whose race is unknow. He appears to have short, dark hair and a full beard. He was seen on surveillance videos wearing a hooded sweatshirt, shorts, and slide sandals with socks. The subject may have been driving a dark in color Honda CRV.
