Lexington Police Officer William Garner receives Departmental Recognition for proactive policing that recovered a stolen trailer
Lexington, SC 06/04/2025 (Paul Kirby) - Patrolman William Garner of the Lexington Police Department was awarded the Chief's Letter of Recognition this week for his vigilance and proactive policing recently and regularly.
According to the Department, on March 29, 2025, Patrolman Garner was conducting property checks along the 100 block of Innkeeper Drive off Sunset Boulevard when he saw a double-axle trailer parked in that area. The trailer belonged to a construction crew working in the area during the days. Several hours later, Garner observed the same trailer attached to the back of a Chevrolet Suburban in the parking lot of a gas station down the street from Innkeeper Drive.
Patrolman Garner recognized a male he knew all too well. That man had an extensive criminal history, and he was walking to the Suburban. Garner initiated contact with the male who was in possession of a controlled substance. As the male was being arrested for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, it was determined that the trailer was in fact the same trailer Patrolman Garner had observed earlier. It had not yet been reported stolen.
Chief Terrance Green said that Patrolman William Garner distinguished himself through proactive policework and an acute eye for detail. These actions are of the highest standards of the Lexington Police Department and reflect greatly on the Town of Lexington.
