Lexington’s indecent exposure suspect nabbed thanks to tips

Lexington, SC – 03/31/2021 (Paul Kirby) – A spokesman for the Lexington Police Department said Wednesday afternoon that Dennis Brown, a man being sought by detectives with the police, has been taken into custody. According to Sgt. Cameron Mortenson, Brown was arrested Wednesday after the department received tips from the public. They had released Brown’s photo and story earlier in the week.

According to police, Brown was wanted for indecent exposure. He has been accused of sitting in a car in the parking area of a Lexington business with his window down. When a woman walked by his car, she told police she could clearly see Brown masturbating his exposed genitalia inside the car. Apparently, he made no effort to conceal what he was doing.

Detectives quickly obtained warrants for Brown after the incident. They had been having trouble locating Brown, so they turned to the public and social media for help. Within 24 hours, tips helped them to capture him.

Brown has since been transported to the Lexington County Detention Center where he will be booked on the open warrant. It is expected he will face a bond hearing sometime Thursday.
