Lexington School District Four announces new 2021-2022 principals

Swansea, SC 04/14/2021 - The Board of Trustees and Staff of Lexington School District Four say they are pleased to welcome two new principals to the District effective this upcoming school year. Holly Miller will take over as principal at Sandhills Primary School. Marlon Smith will become principal of Sandhills Elementary School. Each will officially take on these new positions starting July 1, 2021.

Holly Miller will move to principal of Sandhills Primary School after serving as assistant principal of Frances Mack Intermediate School. Miller began serving the Lexington Four community as a school-based mental health therapist before becoming the guidance counselor at Sandhills Middle School. She became assistant principal at the Lexington Four Early Childhood Center in 2013 and has also served as assistant principal at Sandhills Primary and Elementary Schools.

Miller holds a Bachelor’s degree in the Social Sciences from Carlow University and Master’s degrees in Elementary School Counseling and Educational Leadership from the University of South Carolina. She has earned Montessori Early Childhood certification through the Sandhills Montessori Institute. “I have had the privilege to see our Lexington Four students develop into citizens who have the skills and knowledge to become college and career ready,” says Miller. “I am honored and humbled to serve in this new role and look forward to participating in the continued success of our students in partnership with our parents, teachers and community.”

Marlon Smith will be returning to Lexington Four as principal of Sandhills Elementary School. Smith currently serves an assistant principal at Saluda Trail STEAM Middle School in York School District Three. He began his teaching career at Swansea High School in Lexington Four before moving to C.A. Johnson High School in Richland School District One.


In 15 years of service in public education, Smith has served as a science teacher, department chair, basketball coach, athletic director, assistant administrator, and assistant principal. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of South Carolina-Aiken and holds a Master’s in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University. As a proud graduate of Swansea High School, Smith is excited to return to Lexington Four. “I am happy to return to the Tiger Family to serve the students, families, faculty, and staff of Sandhills Elementary School,” says Smith. “I am honored and blessed to have the opportunity to return to Lexington School District Four, a place I’ve always called home.”

A community reception is planned for May 16, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. in the Lexington Four Performing Arts Center to welcome Ms. Miller and Mr. Smith.
