Lexington School District One and Two planning to run on regular schedule Wednesday

West Columbia, SC 08/06/2024 -  Lexington Two is planning to open on a normal school day schedule on Wednesday, August 7,  the first day of the 2024-2025 school year. This decision comes after discussions with local and state emergency preparedness officials on Wednesday’s forecast and potential impacts that day from Tropical Storm Debby.

At this time, all after-school activities will go on as scheduled Wednesday afternoon.

Given the tropical storm’s forecast and track, we expect for the remainder of the week – specifically Thursday and Friday –  we will make daily decisions about the school day schedule. At this time, we expect to communicate school day plans with staff and families for Thursday, August 8, on Wednesday, and plans for Friday, August 9,  on Thursday, barring any unexpected weather developments.

We continue to monitor weather conditions, in consultation with local and state officials. Should any further school schedule changes be necessary, we will communicate them through our school communications systems, our district and school websites and social media, and local media.
