Lexington School District Two announces the hiring of a director for career and technology for the 2024-2025 academic year

West Columbia, SC 05/26/2024 - Lexington School District Two announces the hiring of a director for career and technology for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Stacey Baker, an Airport High School graduate who most recently served as an assistant principal at Richland Two’s Spring Valley High School, has been selected as director of career and technology, based at the Lexington Two Innovation Center. Her hiring was recommended by Superintendent Dr. Brenda Hafner and approved by the Board of Trustees at its June 20 meeting.

“We are thrilled to bring a native of Lexington Two, who attended elementary, middle, and high school here, back home to this great district. Ms. Baker has built a vast knowledge of career and technology education, and she will be a great addition to our Lexington Two family.”

Baker started her education career in 2006 as a CATE teacher in business education at Spring Valley High School, where she also served as an assistant administrator for four years before moving into her current role in 2016.  Baker holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern Wesleyan University and a M.Ed. from the University of South Carolina.

The opportunity to serve students in the same district she graduated from in 1988 means a lot to her “personally as well as professionally,” Baker said.

“Lexington Two has amazing educators, community support, and state-of-the-art facilities for innovative career and technology education opportunities for students,” Baker said. “I am most looking forward to working with students and educators in the schools and the Innovation Center, as well as strengthening relationships with community and industry partners.  The goal is to ensure that Lexington Two graduates have the tools they need to truly be college and career ready so they can confidently continue on their chosen pathways after high school.”

Baker will be based at the Innovation Center with Director Joni Coleman. She begins her new role July 1.
