Lexington Three Announces Schedule Changes Due to Hurricane Idalia

Batesburg-Leesville, SC 08/29/2023 - Lexington County School District Three just released an announcement of several schedule changes they are making due to the threat of inclement weather resulting from Hurricane Idalia. District administrators have been working closely with emergency preparedness officials to monitor the potential impacts the storm could bring to our district. Forecasts are calling for the possibility of strong wind gusts and flooded roads.
Schedule changes include the following:
Wednesday, August 30th:
Wednesday, August 30th will be an Early Release Day for students and staff across the district.
Schools will dismiss as follows:
Batesburg-Leesville Primary School will dismiss at 11:30 am.
Batesburg-Leesville Elementary School will dismiss at 11:45 am.
Batesburg-Leesville Middle School will dismiss at 12:15 pm.
Batesburg-Leesville High School will dismiss at 12:30 pm.
All scheduled school-related activities for Wednesday, August 30th such as games, practices, meetings, etc. are also canceled.
Thursday, August 31st:
On Thursday, August 31st, all facilities and schools within the district will operate on a two-hour delay. This means school start times are two hours later than normal. School bus riders should report to their bus stops two hours later than their usual times.
As a general reminder, please remember that the weather is unpredictable, and they may need to change plans quickly so please keep your phone or device close in case they need to communicate with you.
Also, make sure you and your family have a weather safety plan in place in the event you need it. In the District’s release they said, “As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority in Lexington County School District Three!”
