Lexington Two middle school teacher winds PTSA mimi-grant

West Columbia, SC 09/15/2022 - Hannah Magraw, a teacher at Fulmer Middle School in Lexington Two, has been selected as a recipient of the 2022 Palmetto State Teachers Association Mini-Grant.

Magraw, who teaches English Language Arts, focused her grant project on creating a natural events text set with accessible and engaging books. This text set includes short chapter books, informational picture books, and narrative-based fiction to instruct and practice writing objective summaries. These specific books reflect students’ interest in the world around them and encourage cross-curricular learning.

PSTA’s Toni Chewning, along with Fulmer Middle Principal Dr. Megan Carrero and Assistant Principal Jonathan Wilburn, surprised Magraw with the news of her grant selection in her classroom on Thursday.

This is the inaugural year of PSTA Mini-Grants, which were created as part of the Reinvesting in Our Members program. The grants will be awarded annually to encourage and support PSTA members as they serve students across South Carolina.
