Lexington Two students will hold multiple events this Christmas season

West Columbia, SC 11/30/2023 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington Two students from many of their schools will offer musical performances, open to the community this holiday season. You also can catch performances of Lexington Two students at several community tree lightings and other holiday events. Many schools are also holding charity donation drives to benefit those in need during the holidays. Here’s a sampling of the events and drives that students will be involved in

 

EVENTS:


Thursday, November 30

 

Brookland-Cayce High School: Winter Orchestra Concert; school auditorium, 7:30 p.m. Busbee Creative Arts Academy Band and Riverbank Elementary Choir: Performances at Cayce Christmas Tree Lighting; Cayce City Hall, 1800 12th Street, 6 p.m.

 

Friday, December 1: Dance and chorus from Saluda River Academy for the Arts and Busbee Creative Arts Academy will perform at West Columbia Christmas Tree Lighting; West Columbia City Hall, 200 N 12th Street, West Columbia, 6:30 p.m.

 

Saturday, December 2 the Brookland-Cayce High School JROTC will march in the City of Columbia Christmas Parade which begins at Sumter and Laurel streets at 9:45 a.m.

 

Airport High School, Pine Ridge Middle and Wood Elementary: Musical performances at Town of Pine Ridge Christmas Parade beginning at 2 p.m.

 

Airport High School Chorus and Pine Ridge Middle School Chorus will walk and sing carols, around downtown Columbia historic homes and Church of the Good Shepherd from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday, December 3.

 

Congaree Elementary School will perform at the Town of South Congaree Christmas Tree Lighting being held at the corner of Main Street and Ramblin Road. This begins at 5 p.m.

 

Tuesday, December 5 Brookland-Cayce High School’s Annual Christmas Chorus Concert will be held in the school’s auditorium beginning at 7:00 p.m.

 


Busbee Creative Arts Academy orchestra will hold their Winter Concert in the cafetorium beginning at 6:00 p.m.

 

Busbee Creative Arts Academy will have their PAC Theatre Winter Showcase in the cafetorium at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6.

 

Airport High School’s Winter Wonderland is scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 7.

 

Airport High School Winter Band/Orchestra Concert will be held in the auditorium starting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. December 7.

 

Brookland-Cayce High School: Winter Wonderland, featuring Santa and his elves will also be held on December 7 between 5:00 and 6:30 p.m.

 

Brookland-Cayce High School will hold their Winter/Holiday Dance Performance in the auditorium on Thursday December 7 beginning at 7:30 p.m.

 

Also on Thursday, December 7 Busbee Creative Arts Academy will hold its Band Winter Concert in the gym beginning at 6:00 p.m. and Pine Ridge Middle School will have their Winter Fine Arts Night in the gym beginning at 6:00 p.m.

 

Friday, December 8, Congaree Elementary will hold their Congaree Christmas Classic from 6:00 until 8:30 p.m.

 

On Saturday, December 9, a number of events are planned that includes multiple schools. They are: Cayce/West Columbia Holiday Parade of Lights:  Airport High School Band, Brookland-Cayce High School JROTC, Northside Middle, Saluda River Academy for the Arts Junior and Senior Dance Company will all perform, and Riverbank Elementary will have a float; 1006 12th Street, Cayce, with route down 12th Street from Cayce to West Columbia, 5:30 p.m.

 

Saluda River Academy for the Arts’ Bobcat Players’ will perform at Riverbanks Zoo and aquarium at 1:00 p.m.  

 

Airport High School and Congaree Elementary School plan musical performances at Town of South Congaree Christmas Parade on Main Street at 10:00 a.m. 

 

Multiple events will also take place on Tuesday, December 12 they include:

 

Airport High School: Winter Chorus Concert; auditorium, 6:00 p.m.

Northside Middle School: Winter Concert with chorus, band, and orchestra; gym and cafeteria, 5:30 p.m.

Riverbank Elementary School: Holiday Music Performance; cafeteria, 6:00 p.m.

Wood Elementary School: Winter Concert; Wood Cafe, 6:00 p.m.

  

On Thursday, December 14, the Airport High School Winter Orchestra Concert will be held in the auditorium beginning at 7:00 p.m.

 

On Friday, December 15, there will be a Christmas Sing-A-Long at Congaree Elementary School starting at 1:00 p.m.

 

HOLIDAY DRIVES

 

Several schools are holding holiday drives, and area businesses and residents are welcome to make donations, which will help those in need in the community. Here’s a sampling:

 

Riverbank Elementary School food drive: Guidance counselors have organized a drive to collect canned goods and nonperishable food items for the Cayce Women’s Club. Donated items will be sent to Cayce City Hall on the day of its annual tree lighting on November 30.

 

Airport High School toy drive: The school is collecting new toys for ages 2-9, with plans to give them away to community children. Toys will be accepted at Airport through December 6. Questions, email oymc@lex2.org.

 

Saluda River Academy for the Arts book drive: The school’s Beta Club is sponsoring a book drive to donate to the Oliver Gospel Mission as a service project through the end of November.
