Local artist and art teacher to hold Art Camp in Pelion over summer break

Pelion, SC 11/18/2022 (Paul Kirby) – Local artist and art teacher Karen Gladden is offering several day camps this summer based on all types of art. Each of the camps will be held at the Pelion Community Center in the 800 block of Pine Street next door to Shumpert’s IGA.


Gladden has set a minimum class size of 4 campers and the classes will cap at 12 campers. Some courses are for campers 6 to 14, while others are for children aged 8 to 14. According to Gladden, campers will create 2-D and 3-D art pieces based on the session’s topic.


All of the morning Art Camp sessions are Monday thru Thursday from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The afternoon sessions begin at 1:30 p.m. and will continue until 4:30 p.m. Each session is $155 and that covers all the supplies, materials, and a daily snack. There are 3-weeks’ worth of Art Camp to chose from.

Week 1 is from June 13-16 and will focus on Art Around the World in the morning sessions and Aliens and Astronauts in the afternoon.


Week 2 begins July 11 and continues though July 14. Its themes are Carnival, Castles, and Creatures in the morning and Fairies and Fantastic Beast in the afternoon sessions.


Week 3 is from July 25 through July 28 and will feature Animal Adventures in the mornings. The afternoon’s feature is As Seen on the Big Screen.
