Irmo, SC 07/29/2024 - Local businessman Jason Baynham has entered the race for Lexington-Richland Five’s School Board. Baynham, the owner of a landscaping company and a former retail manager, plans to draw on his experiences to be a strong voice on the board.
“I am ready to bring my passion and energy to the school board,” Baynham said. “I am a problem-solver, and I am looking forward to being a positive influence on the school board who will get things done.”
Running for the seat on the Richland County side of the district, Baynham is very involved in District Five schools - including the special education department. He plans to use that to his advantage on the campaign trail and inside the school board.
“I’ve been working on this campaign for quite a while. I go to the school board meetings, I talk with teachers, PTO members, SIC members and all stakeholders including parents and taxpayers. I am gaining support all around and I will be ready to serve on day one.”
Baynham’s main areas of focus are teacher recruitment and retention, school discipline, fiscal responsibility, special needs, low-cost nutritional options for school menus and expanding the Five program and ensuring classroom and library materials are appropriate.
Baynham and his wife Lori live in Irmo and have three daughters in District Five schools - Kaitlyn, Madison and Isabella.
