Man arrested after shooting coworker at Bojangles in Chapin

Chapin, SC 02/02/2022 - A man is accused of shooting one of his coworkers at a Chapin area restaurant Wednesday afternoon. According to a spokesperson for the town, Warren Bruce Rumph Jr. is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Chapin Police officers arrested him at the Bojangles on Columbia Avenue shortly after the incident.

Officers responded to the restaurant just before 4 p.m. today in reference to a shooting. Officers eventually determined an argument between Rumph and the victim led to the shooting. The victim, described as a man in his 20s, was transported to Prisma Health Richland with a gunshot wound to the head. His injuries are considered life-threatening injuries.

Rumph is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center. The shooting investigation is ongoing, and Chapin Police will provide updates to the community as their work continues.
