Leesville, SC - 03/02/2021 (Paul Kirby) – A Lexington County man was arrested recently after he assaulted several men and stripped his clothes off after he admittedly used Methamphetamines. According to a report provided by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Ronald K. Brazell admitted to ingesting the drug when he was confronted on Annie Hallman Road near Leesville by deputies.
According to the reporting officer, Brazell was sitting on the ground naked near a woman’s driveway when the deputies arrived on scene. A sergeant with the department was riding in the cruiser with the reporting officer and another had already arrived on scene. The sergeant who first arrived was shouting from a distance at Brazell to drop a knife he was playing with. Once the deputy and the second sergeant that was with him got out of their cruiser, the three surrounded Brazell.
According to the report, at some point one of the deputies pulled Brazell from behind causing him to drop his knife. It was kicked away by another and all three of the officers subdued Brazell and took him into custody. At that point, he admitted he had injected and snorted Methamphetamines. He also was mumbling that he had stabbed several men with the knife. These men were not on the scene at that point.
Lexington County EMS was notified and responded. Eventually Brazell was taken to the Emergency Department of the Lexington Medical Center for evaluation of his erratic behavior.
While Brazell was in custody, Lexington County’s 911 Center received a call that the two men who had been stabbed were at the Lexington County Medical Center seeking treatment for their wounds. A deputy responded to the ED and those men accused Brazell of being the one who stabbed them.
Brazell was later booked into the Lexington County Detention Center where he was charged with two counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
