Pelion, SC (Paul Kirby) - Pelion High School was placed on lockout Wednesday at the request of law enforcement. According to school administrators, deputies asked them to implement the lock out just before 2:00 p.m. while they searched for a suspect who had an outstanding warrant. That suspect apparently was trying to elude capture.
During a lockout, all exterior doors are secured, and no one is allowed in or out of the building. Inside the school building, classes and students follow their everyday schedule and no activities that normally take place inside the secured buildings are curtailed.
Administrators said Wednesday they want parents to know that this was done out of an abundance of caution. They said that all students and staff are safe. They will use the school district's communication system to notify parents when the school returns to its normal operating status.
