Gilbert, SC 10/25/2021 (Paul Kirby) – A Lifenet helicopter was used to transport a seriously injured person from a collision that occurred just before 8:00 p.m. Sunday night. The crash was reported to be on Wire Road near the intersection of Hayes Crossing Road east of the town of Gilbert.
After the first responders arrived, the decision was quickly made to request the response of a Lifenet helicopter due to the serious injuries the patient had suffered. That flight was directed to land at the Gilbert Airpark where firefighters had responded to setup a safe landing zone. Lexington EMS transported the patient to that location where care was transferred to the helicopter’s flight team. The patient was then flown to the local trauma center for treatment.
The condition of the patient was unavailable Monday morning. The SCHP has not released any details from the collision.
