Fairview, SC 12/11/2023 - At approximately 4:00 P.M. on December 3rd, the Lexington County Coroner was dispatched to the North Fork Edisto River near Wagner Highway in the Leesville area of Lexington County in reference to a body that was found in the river by a kayaker.
Lexington County's Coroner responded to that loction and recovred the body as that of a missing person out of Barnwell County, Coroner Fisher says that the victim as Ms. Regina Veronica Arroyo, 56 years old, of Barnwell. Ms. Arroyo was reported missing on November 30, 2023.
An autopsy was performed at MUSC in Charleston on December 5, 2023 but the results are not being released until further investigation into the death by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. The death has been ruled a homicide.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office as well as the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to investigate and further information will be released as the investigation continues.
