Mobile home destroyed by fire shortly before dark Saturday evening

Dixiana, SC – 03/07/2021 (Paul Kirby) – A mobile home was destroyed by fire in southeastern Lexington County Saturday afternoon. The fire, in the 100 block of Goff Court, was reported just after 5:30 p.m. Goff Court is in the area of Silver Lake off Old Charleston Highway not far from its intersection with I-26.

When Lexington County firefighters first arrived, they found a mobile home that was well involved. The fire was consuming the structure so fast that it had destroyed it before the first crews arrived. Even though there were plenty of equipment and personnel on scene to fight the fire, the main focus of the teams at this point was to put the remaining material out and ensure the fire did not spread. This was done in a short time.

No firefighters were reported injured by Lexington County. They have not said what started the fire.
