Boiling Springs, SC - 02/25/2021 (Paul Kirby) – A motorcyclist has died following a two-vehicle collision on Boiling Springs Road near Longview Street in Lexington County Wednesday evening. The collision, which occurred about 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, blocked the entire road as EMERGENCY medical personnel, firefighters, personnel from Coroner Margaret Fisher’s office and law enforcement worked the scene.
According to Master Trooper David Jones of the SCHP, both the motorcycle and a Mercedes Sprinter van were heading toward Platt Springs Road when the van slowed to turn into a private drive. The motorcyclist failed to slow in time, struck the van in the rear, threw the rider, and the bike caught fire. The biker was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene as a result of injuries received in the crash. The driver of the van was wearing a seatbelt and wasn’t physically injured.
The SC Highway Patrol is in charge of investigating this accident. Coroner Fisher’s office will release the decedents name once their next of kin has been fully notified.
