Motorcyclist dies in collision on Good Friday near Hollow Creek

Hollow Creek, SC 04/16/2022 (Paul Kirby) – A motorcyclist has died following a collision with a car on US Hwy 378 at the intersection of Lewie Road near the Hollow Creek community on Good Friday. According to Lance Corporal Nick Pye of the SC Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 4:52 p.m. on April 15, 2022.

According to Pye, the person who was riding the motorcycle was travelling east toward Lexington on Hwy 378 when a Toyota sedan turned off Lewie Road toward Saluda County and collided with the cyclist. The rider was ejected from the bike and sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision.

Law enforcement had to close Hwy 378 for a period Friday evening while rescue workers were on scene. The SCHP is still investigating this incident according to Lance Corporal Pye.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has not yet released the identity of the rider that died at the scene. She will do so after all notifications have been made.
