Motorcyclist killed in crash on Jim Spence Road near Pelion and Sharpe’s Hill Monday evening

Pelion, SC 05/10/2022 (Paul Kirby) - A motorcyclist has died after its rider collided with a pickup truck at Jim Spence Road and Pat Road Monday evening. According to Lance Corporal Tyler Tidwell of the SC Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 6:19 p.m. Jim Spence Road runs from Edmund Hwy. to SC Hwy. 6 at Meadowfield Road.

LCpl. Tidwell said that the rider of the 2004 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was travelling east on Jim Spence Road toward SC Hwy. 6. At the intersection of Pat Road, the driver of a 2005 Chevy 3500 pickup failed to see the motorcycle approaching and turned out in front of the bike. The operator of the motorcycle was ejected from the bike and died at the scene from injured sustained in the crash.

The deceased rider has not yet been identified by Lexington County Corner Margaret Fisher. That will occur after all the notifications have been made.
