New Gymnasium and Athletic Field Coming to American Leadership Academy Lexington

Lexington, SC 11/03/2026 - American Leadership Academy Lexington broke ground Friday evening on a major expansion of its campus at 109 Innovation Place in Lexington. The planned improvements include a new gymnasium, expanded carline stacking lanes, and an outdoor multi-use field for sporting events and practices.

Upper School Director Gabriel Cheavers was joined at the groundbreaking ceremony by Charter Institute at Erskine Chief Operating Officer Vamshi Rudrapati, Charter Institute at Erskine Superintendent Mike Sinclair, representatives from Charter One, and Representative Micah Caskey.

“This expansion reflects the growth of our school and our commitment to the students and families we serve,” said Cheavers. “These new spaces will give our students more opportunities to compete, gather, and grow as leaders, and they will make the school day easier for the families who trust us with their children.”

The expansion is designed to support the school’s continued growth and enhance the experience for students, families, and the surrounding community. The new gymnasium will serve as a home for indoor athletics, physical education, and school-wide events, while the outdoor multi-use field will give student athletes additional space to practice and compete. Expanded carline stacking lanes will ease traffic and streamline daily drop-off and pick-up for families.

“American Leadership Academy Lexington has become a cornerstone for families in this community, and this expansion ensures it can keep pace with that demand. We are proud to support a campus that is investing so intentionally in its students,” said Mike Sinclair, Executive Superintendent of Schools for the Charter Institute at Erskine.

Since opening its doors in 2023, American Leadership Academy Lexington has served as the flagship for American Leadership Academy in South Carolina, offering a tuition-free, K-12 education rooted in rigorous academics, patriotic culture, and leadership-focused virtues. As Lexington remains one of the fastest-growing communities in the state, this investment ensures the campus can continue to meet the needs of a growing student body.
