Red Bank, SC 07/10/2021 (Paul Kirby) – The old Piggly Wiggly supermarket at the corner of South Lake Drive and Two Notch Road in Red Bank is currently being renovated and will soon open as a Roses Discount Store. The building has been sitting empty since the Piggly Wiggly closed several years ago leaving the shopping plaza without a major anchor tenant.
Roses Discount Store’s parent company, Variety Wholesalers, Inc., already has several subsidiary stores in the Midlands. One of these is in Lexington County and another id so close to the county line it’s almost a toss-up as to which county it’s in without consulting a good map closely.
There is a Super 10 located at 1509 Fountain Court in West Columbia next to Joann’s Fabrics on Knox Abbott Drive. Super 10s are Roses’ “little brother” stores with more dollar store items in stock. They usually occupy between 5,000 and 10,000 square feet of retail space.
Their second existing location is a full-size Roses that may be just inside Richland Count. It's at 817 St. Andrews Road in a shopping plaza on the left that is about 100 yards off the I-26 and St. Andrews Road interchange if you are driving toward Broad River Road.
Roses’ catch phrase is “The Real Deal Place!” The sell a variety of items at discount prices. They have multiple departments that includes Insider Deals, Seasonal, .89, Accessories & Intimates, Bed & Beth, Health & Beauty, Furniture, Food, Drinks, and Snacks, and Home Décor just to name a few. They also offer a 10% discount for senior citizens every Wednesday.
They have a bright, clear, easy to use website that have all there latest and best discounts on the front page. It can be found at www.rosesdiscountstores.com. It also has a tab that will show you their weekly circular.
There is no word on when the Red Bank store will be completed, and a Grand Opening scheduled. We will try to update this story as more information becomes available.
