One dead after being found in partially submerged car near Cayce Thursday morning

Cayce, SC 04/01/2022 (Paul Kirby) – One person has died after he was discovered in a car that had left the roadway and ended up partially submerged in a pond along the 12th Street Extension near Cayce Thursday morning. According to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, the victim’s vehicle was discovered in the 4000 block shortly after 7:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 31, 2022.

According to Coroner Fisher, John Twilley, 79, of Lexington was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy revealed that Twilley died due to natural causes.

The incident is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
