Lexington, SC 09/01/2021 (Paul Kirby) – Sgt. Cameron Mortenson of the Lexington Police Department said that one person died in a traffic collision in the Town of Lexington on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. According to Mortenson, this happened in the 2600 block of Mineral Springs Road around 4:00 p.m.

Mortenson said that the road was closed for an extended period as first responders from the Lexington County Fire Service, Lexington EMS, personnel from Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher’s office, and the Lexington Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Team worked on the scene. Because the collision involved a death, the point of the impact is treated much like a crime scene until the exact cause of the crash is determined.

As of Wednesday morning, the cause of the collision has not been released. Coroner Fisher’s office will release the name of the decedent once the proper notifications have been made.
