One dead after tractor trailer and vehicle collide on I-20 Tuesday afternoon

Samaria, SC 11/03/2021 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said Wednesday that a man was killed in a collision with a tractor trailer truck on I-20 Tuesday afternoon. According to Fisher, the vehicle the deceased was in collided with the tractor trailer on the interstate near mile marker 40 between Pond Branch and the Samaria areas of Lexington County. The collision occurred at approximately 3:50 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2021.

According to Coroner Fisher, Sahib Singh Cheema, 61, of Lexington was traveling eastbound toward Lexington when his vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and struck the rear end of a tractor trailer. Cheema, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured during the collision.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate this collision.
