One dead after vehicle strikes pedestrian in West Columbia

West Columbia, SC (06/11/2021 Paul Kirby) – One person has died after she was struck by a vehicle in the City of West Columbia late Thursday night. According to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, the deceased is Donna Lee Barnes, 64, of West Columbia.
Coroner Fisher said that Barnes was struck by a motor vehicle in the 2400 block of Augusta Road on Thursday, June 10, 2021. The collision occurred at approximately 11:00 p.m. She was attempting to cross the road when she was hit by the vehicle that was traveling east toward the city. She was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained. The driver of the vehicle who struck Barnes was not injured.
An investigation by the West Columbia Police Department is ongoing.
