One dead following golf cart versus SUV collision in southern Lexington County Wednesday morning

Swansea, SC 08/14/2024 (Paul Kirby) – One person has died following a collision between a golf cart and an SUV near Swansea Wednesday morning. According to Master Trooper William Bennett of the SC Highway Patrol (SCHP), this happened on Huckabee Mill Road near Tickleweed Roads about 10:00 a.m. on August 14, 2024.

Bennet said that the Club Car golf cart was traveling south on Huckabee Mill Road when in was struck from behind by a Ford Exhibition that was travelling in the same direction. The force of the collision caused the golf cart to overturn killing its only occupant. The name of the deceased will be released by Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher once she makes the proper notifications.

At this time, the collision remains under investigation by the SCHP and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.
