One dead following motorcycle crash over the weekend

Dixiana, SC 11/11/2024 (Paul Kirby) – One person died in a single-motorcycle collision that happened near the intersection of Hwy. 21 and Interstate 26 Saturday night. According to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, the crash happened about 8:50 p.m. on November 9, 2024.
Coroner Fisher said Monday that Philip James Bugger, 49, of Gaston was traveling northbound on U.S. 21 with a passenger on the bike when he lost control, left the right side of the roadway, struck several construction barrels and then a road sign. Bugger, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead on scene due to the injuries sustained in the collision. His passenger, who was also not wearing a helmet, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the incident.
