One dead in Friday night wreck north of Swansea

Swansea, SC 01/16/2021 (Paul Kirby) – A collision on Sharon Church Road near Antioch Church Road north of Swansea has claimed the life of one person. According to Lance Corporal Tyler Tidwell of the SCHP the wreck happened around 8:40 p.m. on Friday evening.

Tidwell says this was a single vehicle accident that involved a Chevrolet pickup truck. The truck was driving west on Sharon Church Road when the driver lost control, ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, went back across the road onto the opposite shoulder, struck a ditch and a telephone pedestal, and overturned. The driver of the truck was its only occupant and died as a result of the injuries they sustained in the collision.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher is working to notify the decedent’s family and will release that individuals name after she has done so.
