Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) - One person has died in a single vehicle collision near Cayce early Saturday morning. According to Corporal Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday October 31st , 2020.
According to Corporal Collins, a vehicle was traveling from Charleston Highway (US Hwy 321) on the entrance ramp to I-77 north. The vehicle's driver lost control of the car, struck a ditch, and hit a part of the bridge structure. That driver, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision, was the only person in the vehicle and died on the scene as a result of their injuries.
The accident is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has not yet released the identity of the individual that was killed in the crash.
