Leesville, SC (05/27/2021 Paul Kirby) – Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said Thursday that one person has died following a single vehicle accident near Leesville. The collision occurred in the 400 block of Dixired Road at approximately 11:55 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.
According to Coroner Fisher, Damon Watts Jaynes, 27, of Leesville was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. The vehicle that Jaynes was driving left the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned. Jaynes was not wearing a seat belt when the incident occurred. A passenger in the vehicle, who was also not wearing a seat belt, was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The incident is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
