One killed in single vehicle collision Sunday night near Oak Grove

Oak Grove, SC 05/09/2022 (Paul Kirby) – One person has died in a single vehicle collision in the Oak Grove community of Lexington County late Sunday night. According to Lance Corporal Nicholas Pye of the SC Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Jessamine Road near its intersection with Wood Road.

According to LCpl. Pye, there were two people in a Ford pickup travelling south on Jessamine Road when the driver dropped off the left side of the road, lost control and struck a tree. The driver of the truck was deceased on the scene. The passenger was transported to a local medical facility for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

The name of the deceased will be released by Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher after she and her staff make all the appropriate notifications. Pye said that the SCHP was still investigating the cause of this crash.
