One killed in three vehicle collision near Lake Murray Dam Friday evening

Lake Murray, SC 03/26/2022 (Paul Kirby) – One person has died following a three-vehicle collision that occurred on North Lake Drive near Corley Mill Road Friday evening. According to Master Trooper David Jones of the SC Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 6:45 p.m.

Trooper Jones said that there were two vehicles heading north on North Lake toward the Irmo area. One was a 2010 Ford Explorer and the other a 2007 Lexus. As they approached the dam, a 2007 Honda Civic that was travelling south toward Lexington crossed the center line and struck the Ford head on. The Ford was knocked into the door of the Lexus. Both the driver of the Ford and the Lexus were transported to area medical centers for treatment. The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to Master Trooper Jones, the SCHP is still investigating this collision. It is expected that Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher’s Office will release the name of the deceased driver after they have contacted the next of kin.
