Lexington, SC 5/4/2023 (Paul Kirby) – One person died in a single vehicle collision on Muddy Springs Road near Bledsoe Drive Wednesday evening. According to Corporal Tyler Tidwell of the SC Highway Patrol (SCHP), this collision occurred at approximately 5:45 pm on April 3, 2023.
According to Tidwell, the decedent was driving a 2006 GMC Envoy east on Muddy Springs Road toward South Lake Drive and Red Bank. For reasons unknown, the driver lost control of the vehicle, dropped off the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch bank, and then overturned. The driver was alone in the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene after the fire service and EMS arrived. A portion of Muddy Springs Road was closed for a period as troopers and Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher's office investigated this crash.
As of Thursday afternoon, Coroner Fisher had not released the identity of the deceased.
