Red Bank, SC 10/03/2022 (Paul Kirby) – One teenager is dead, and another was seriously injured after a two-vehicle collision that occurred on South Lake Drive near Nazareth Road early Saturday morning. According to Lance Corporal Nick Pye of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, this collision happened at approximately 2:10 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022 in the 1500 block of South Lake. Pye said that there were two units involved. One was a late model Dodge SUV and the other was a Ford sedan.

According to the SCHP, the Dodge was travelling east toward White Knoll and the Ford was driving west in the opposite direction toward Lexington. Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher later said that the Ford crossed the center median and struck the Dodge. The driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the crash. The passenger in the Ford was transported to a local medical facility with serious injuries. Fisher said that both occupants of the Ford were not wearing seat belts at the time of the collision. The driver of the other vehicle involved was also transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Coroner Fisher has positively identified the individual who died as Connor George Ilisie, 17, of West Columbia.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
