Pedestrian hit and killed by vehicle on Edmund Highway near West Dunbar Road early Wednesday morning

South Congaree, SC 04/03/2024 (Paul Kirby) – According to Master Trooper William Bennett of the SC Highway Patrol, a pedestrian was killed in a collision with a vehicle on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at approximately 6:40 a.m. The collision happened just outside the town of South Congaree near the intersection of Edmund Highway and Old Dunbar Road.



 According to Bennett, a 2006 Toyota Scion was driving east toward Cayce on Edmund Highway when it struck a pedestrian that was walking in the road. The driver of the Toyota was not injured however the pedestrian died at the scene as a result of this incident.

 

This collision is being investigated by the SCHP and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.
