Pelion, SC – 04/06/2021 (Paul Kirby) – Chief John Rebolj of the Pelion Police Department is asking the public for their assistance in locating two suspects who cashed sizable checks at a business in the town that were forged. In total, the checks equal almost $1,000!
According to the chief, on February 28, 2021, Emily Melton and Robert Anderson entered Shumpert’s IGA at 861 Pine Street in Pelion and cashed two checks. One was for $475 and the other $485. Both checks were later returned by the bank as forgeries.
After investigating the incident, Pelion officers were able to identify Melton and Anderson as the suspects who perpetrated this crime. Warrants were obtained for their arrest but to date, they have not been located.
Chief Rebolj said that he hopes that anyone with information as to the whereabouts of these suspects will do the right thing and tip the police.
