Police arrest 4 after shooting in West Columbia earlier in November

West Columbia, SC 12/04/2023 (Paul Kirby) - Investigators with the West Columbia Police Department made several arrests last week stemming from a shooting that occurred on November 25, 2023. According to the police, officers responded to a home in the 600 block of Lown Street and when they arrived, they discovered that the home had been struck by gunfire.

After a thorough investigation by detectives with the West Columbia Police Department, four individuals were arrested regarding that crime on November 30, 2023. They have been charged with Discharging a Firearm into a Dwelling, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Violent Crime, and multiple counts of Attempted Murder. The four arrested include 21-year-old Michael Jackson of Columbia, 34-year-old Aliyah Sims of Orangeburg, and 18-year-old Jamarion Gladden of Columbia. A fourth co-defendant, who is a juvenile, has also been arrested for the same charges in this case.


The Lexington County Sheriff's Department and the US Marshall’s Task Force assisted in taking these individuals into custody.
